The Castle: A Place of Encounter for 800 Years

Built around the year 1200 by the Zähringer dynasty, the castle served over the centuries not only as a residence, courthouse, or administrative seat. Time and again, it became a meeting point – a place where people gathered for markets, negotiations, or celebrations.

Since its reopening in 2020, the castle has taken on a new role: museum, youth hostel, restaurant, and event venue – all under one roof. Today, more than ever, it is a “castle for everyone,” a place that creates opportunities for encounters and lets friendships grow.
